Having a coach helped me change my life for the better. I learned about self care, and discipline. I learned how to be self motivated, and that I was capable of changing who I am. All it took was for me to keep trying
I love being a coach. More than I’ve ever loved lifting weights or competing on a platform.
This little corner of the world has had me travel all over the country to obscure little competitions in no name towns, run alongside professional rugby players (mostly behind them),  shadow professional S&C coaches as they rapidly try to explain to me the value of force velocity in a trap bar deadlift as a metric for gauging the fatigue in their athletes.

Community

Finding strength in community is one of the pillars of my philosophy. You can’t do anything on your own, and it is my intention to create a community of people who want to get stronger together, and to find support in each other.

Dedication.

It’s the reason we’re all here. Strength. Quality of life is directly impacted, whether it’s regaining functional movement, achieving competitive goals or just living better, longer. Strength is foundation in which you build those goals on.

Dedication.

The final pillar of the DOS philosophy is dedication. Dedication to constantly evolve, to embrace change, and to find new ways to improve. Consistency is everything, finding it what it means to be the best version of yourself, both on and off the platform.

What They’re Saying

“Theo is an uncommonly caring and helpful person. Thanks to him, I've been able to go from never squatting before to squatting 315 for reps at a body weight of 165lbs in 6 months. I've gone from thinking my sporting days were over to training for a powerlifting meet. I can't recommend working with him highly enough. He's got all of the makings of an incredible coach and educator: humble, selfless, caring, strong, professional. He'll tactically provide honest criticism and encouragement to keep you on target. Work with Theo and you'll become a stronger and more useful person, both mentally and physically.”Kevin Golden

Theo will make you strong. At 62 years old and 162 pounds, Theo trained me to compete at a USPA powerlifting event. Theo improved my deadlift form and put me on a workout program that ensured my strength peaked right at the event. As a novice competitor, I thought I needed to lift heavy and often. But I learned it’s not just a matter of lifting more but lifting smarter. I set the state deadlift record at 202.5 KGs (446.4 lbs.). Thanks Theo! I'm looking forward to my next event and another record!Russell Aoki

As a competitive powerlifter, I have worked with several coaches over the years, so I knew exactly what I was looking for—and I found it in Disciples of Strength. Since we have been working together to reach my goals, I have been able to not only build strength, but also improve form and function in the “Big Three” lifts. I value the level of dedication and attention provided to me as an individual, and never feel uncomfortable asking questions if I am ever unsure about anything. He understands strength— and what it takes to have the patience and discipline to build it, maintain it, and grow with it mentally and physically over time. Highly recommend.

I'd been solely focused on strength training and this left me a little short winded in a few too many situations that required hustle. Disciples of steel adapted a program tailored to my strengths and weaknesses and I saw marked improvement in the first three weeks.Brian from Maine
